We planted 1,350 trees with university students!

On October 16, we set out once again, targeting the well-known forest patch, the Farkas Forest in District IV.

ABOUT THE PLANTING AREA

Our planting area is part of a long, predominantly open, grassy habitat that runs along nearly 1 km of the Megyeri Road and the Farkas Forest Nature Conservation Area.

The grassland has developed on the top and side of an embankment and is listed as a “clearing” in the forestry records.

“The habitat also features sparse tree cover, primarily consisting of non-native species. The gradual replacement of these with native species is among the plans for the coming years.“

And that’s exactly why we were here!

STUDENTS INSTEAD OF COMPANIES

This time, instead of companies, we were joined by students from the sociology undergraduate program at ELTE, as well as law students, who enthusiastically grabbed the spades with boundless cheer and energy!

We certainly needed the good spirits and youthful energy, as in some places, preparing the planting holes was quite a challenge.

1350 NATIVE TREE SEEDLINGS WERE PLANTED

The enthusiasm was not only matched by strength but also by joy, and by the end of the day, we had planted 1350 native tree seedlings, once again under the watchful professional eyes of FŐKERT.
