I would like to draw your attention to a photo series showcasing our country’s notable, largest, and oldest trees, as well as a photo album based on the series that will be published this November. The photo series has been created for the fifth year by Márton Kállai, André Kertész Grand Prize-winning photographer, and Máté Kovalik, photo editor.
The photo series does not strictly follow dendrological criteria; in addition to the largest trees, it features trees of cultural-historical significance, trees with sacred importance, and individuals that bear the marks of environmental change or human activity. The completed photographic material covers every county of our country and almost every region, and it also aims to provide extensive coverage of the species native to Hungary.
A photo album titled Matuzsálemek will be prepared from the series this autumn.
As part of a pre-financing campaign, it is possible to pre-order the volume, which will be released in early November, on the Brancs community platform.
The photographed trees will be accompanied by scientific and literary texts from authors such as:
– Réka Aszalós, forest ecologist, researcher at the Ecological Research Center, expert of the 10 Million Trees community
– Ildikó Boldizsár, fairy tale researcher, writer
– János Háy, József Attila Prize-winning writer, poet
– György Pósfai, Széchenyi Prize-winning biochemist, founder of the domestic Dendromania website

– Tamás Vitray Jr., biologist, science writer, editor-in-chief of the Hungarian edition of National Geographic
During the community financing weekend in August, for every order placed, the authors of the book will cover the cost of planting a sapling. The planting will take place in Zala County, in cooperation with the 10 Million Trees Foundation.
