A remarkable number of people have joined our Volunteer Watering campaign, which was launched in mid-June as an unparalleled collaboration between the Municipality of Budapest, the BKM Főkert division, the 10 Million Trees Foundation, and the developers of the beeco eco-application to protect the young trees of the capital.

Thousands of beeco app downloads, countless buckets of water, and “full house” community watering events have shown that it is important for many people to keep the young trees alive, even though it is no small task to provide at least 50 liters of water weekly to the small trees.

Unfortunately, despite the thunderstorms and the cooling down, the lack of moisture in the soil has reached dramatic levels.

Many of us are fighting shoulder to shoulder with great effort against the drought, but we see that it is now bordering on impossible to reach every tree often enough. The 10 Million Trees initiative is striving to bring life-giving water to those trees that are difficult for the public to access with watering trucks throughout the summer. We will continue this effort until the end of September, and if the weather requires it, we will keep watering.
