Spring has arrived: We planted 1,575 trees!
March 21 is International Forest Day, celebrated worldwide since 2013 on the day of the spring equinox, at the initiative of the UN. Its aim is to raise awareness of the importance of trees and forests – oxygen production, climate protection, biodiversity – and to emphasize the importance of their protection.
What better way to celebrate this day than with tree planting?
BEREMEND – 850 TREES
On Saturday, we visited Beremend, where we planted 850 trees together with the team of the Ördögkatlan Festival. The Katlan Forest has begun to grow, the source of which we created together last summer.
Good cheer is guaranteed at tree planting events, but it is not every day that a real brass band plays the tunes!
The Municipality of Beremend not only provided the location for the planting but also prepared the planting holes, organized the band, and treated the planters arriving at the site to a warm lunch! Thank you very much – it was truly a great help!
Beremend will always remain a dear place for us, as here, next to the Chapel of Reconciliation, we planted the 500,000th tree of the 10 Million Trees initiative.
Not even a full year has passed, and we have already completed the 700,000th non-economic tree planting! Of course, we will not stop; we will continue on, together with you!
NEW MIYAWAKI AT THE MARINA SHORE: 225 TREES & SHRUBS
In a similarly good atmosphere to Beremend, although without a brass band, we planted another Miyawaki mini-forest in Budapest. This planting was made possible by the community tree planting initiative of the XIII District Municipality, which won the National Tree Planting Day 2026 competition.
At the FOKA Bay, a Miyawaki mini-forest covering 75 square meters hosts a total of 225 trees and shrubs.
The funding was jointly provided by GreenGo and its users:
through the “Roll for Trees” program, which has been collecting funds for tree planting in Budapest for several years
WOLF FOREST: 500 TREES!
On the 20th, we visited the Wolf Forest in the capital, where, under the professional guidance of FŐKERT and with the team from Realiscon Ltd., we planted 500 trees:
Three types of poplar, sessile oak, maple, wild pear, wild apple, and dogwood were on the planting list for Friday.
This is not our first visit to the Wolf Forest; we often return to this planting area.
The reason is simple:
“There is a sparse tree population in the habitat, predominantly composed of non-native species. The slow and gradual replacement of these with native species is among the plans for the coming years.” Source: FŐKERT
These tree plantings are supported by 10 Million Trees and the volunteers and corporate team members who plant with us.
